It’s only fitting to start this post with a Lord of the Rings quote. This past weekend I got to celebrate the marriage of one of my best friends. A friend whom I met on my very first solo trip, which was to New Zealand. For those who know me, know that I love all things Tolkien (remember my Oxford post a few days ago?) and that I went to New Zealand five years ago (these blogs will be up on this new site shortly as well!). I met an incredible group of humans on a Contiki tour and some of us keep in close touch or at least tabs on each other. It was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life and a time that I will cherish forever.
This amazing lady here? We’ve talked practically every single day since we left New Zealand and have managed to see each other a few times since then as well.
We all descended on the oldest town on record in England – a little town called Colchester. And where were we going for this wedding? A CASTLE!!! As part of their city services you can get married in the chapel of their city castle! How awesome is that!
Not only did I get to see Siobhan marry the fantastic Ryan, I got to see some friends I’ve met along the way of my travels! Megan and Jimmy from the same Contiki tour (#noregrets) and then Emily whom I met in the fields of Glastonbury a few years back! It was a mini reunion quickly followed by meeting new, equally fun people. Siobhan sure knows how to pick friends!
The ceremony was beautiful as was the castle. And the reception was in the city hall. It was stunning as well! So much history which is nothing like what is over here. Celebrating these two was quite the party and just a fun fun time as we all came together!
After a night of dancing and singing and celebrating the marriage of two awesome people, naturally, you need to refuel. And Domino’s is a fantastic choice!
That is so amazing that you and Siobhan have remained such wonderful friends along with all the others. The wedding looked fabulous and the bride & groom looked lovely!
